Although I’m not an electrician, I have run several hundred feet of Romex Wire when I wired my shop for 120v or 240v. One of the frustrating parts was tacking the wire with cable staples, when I had to run 127cm lengths above three garage doors. DeWalt saw the need for electricians who do a lot of work with cables staples and created the DCN701B 20v max cable stapler. DeWalt claims that this stapler is 2X faster than doing it by hand, which I can easily believe. It can be difficult to hold the wire while placing the staple and tacking the staple in place. This is why it is so helpful to be able to hold the wire with one hand and tack it with another.
My thoughts: This unit will definitely make the lives of many electricians easier when running new wire as it should be very easy to position the wire and secure it with the other hand. I can say from experience that tacking wire overhead and behind a garage door mechanism is a bit of a pain, so being able to simply pull a trigger and be done is very appealing. It might not fit in tight spaces, but it would also be difficult to use a hammer in tight places. The LED light can be used in low light conditions, and the wire guide is built into the tool. A belt hook can also be attached to either side of the device for right- or left-handed users.
